Sometimes living in a democracy has it's downsides. For one, you have to put up with decisions of questionable intelligence (to put it nicely).
Easier naturalization for people who already are Swiss citizens in all but name has been shot down at the urn, and I just sit here shaking my head, wondering what kind of country this is. A majority of the Swiss citizens seem to be paranoid and xenophobe.
If the run-up to the vote was any indicator, we have also given up on decent and fact-based campaigns and listen instead to propaganda centering on hate and fear.
I wonder where such a course will lead us.
Right now I'm ashamed to be Swiss.
